Long lost blog

Standard

Hi parents! It has been SO long since I have been able to do a blog post! BUT, no worries, we are up and running again! There is no possible way to include all of the fun things that we have learned and experienced since the last time I was able to post but, here are a few highlights:

In March, we spent a week doing animal research projects. Each student got to choose their own animal and conduct research about physical characteristics, habitat, and diet of that animal. We used pictures, books, and watched videos to conduct our research. Each student created a poster about their animal and then spent some time teaching the class about it. They learned so much! It was a very fun project!

We ended our animal unit by taking a field trip to the Gainesville Zoo. We had the unique experience of participating in an animal encounter where we got to get up close and personal and learn about various types of animals. It was awesome and tied right in to the things we had been learning in class.

Not long after our zoo trip, it was the 100th day of school! We all dressed up like we were 100 years old and spent the day doing 100 themed activities.

Here are the pictures the students made using the numbers

1-0-0. They are all so creative!

We are winding down to the end of the year! We are currently working on Mother’s Day stuff and learning about plants. Next week we will begin our study on community helpers and also talk about careers the students may be interested in when they grow up.

Kindergarteners- These students are VERY ready for first grade. I am so proud of how much they have grown this year and how hard they have worked. They are working on writing paragraphs, reading longer books, and are working on finishing up their curriculum for the year.

Pre-K- These students have finished the alphabet and are currently reviewing, learning about word families, working on rhyming, and continuing to read books.

We have a couple of exciting days coming up:

May 20- This is the day before the last day of school. We will be having “Kinder Camp” in our classroom. We will have a tent set up and will spend the day eating s’mores, reading by flashlight, playing games, and just generally having a great time! I do have a list of needed supplies that I will post in hopes that I can borrow said items for the day:)

May 21- LAST DAY OF SCHOOL. We will have a pizza party at 12:00. GraceKids is providing the pizza. However, at 11:30, I will be having a short graduation/awards ceremony for our class. Each child will receive and award and either a Pre-k or Kindergarten diploma. You won’t want to miss it! We will have one more take-home project for the end of the year that we will use at our graduation ceremony. I will be sending details about this project on Monday.

May 22- This will be our last Friday Field Trip of the year. We want to get one last fun party end before our time together is gone. The party will be at 11 a.m. at Kaiden Cortez’s house. It will be a hula pool party! Bring your floaties:)

There is so much more I wanted to include in this post, but can’t remember now. Haha! Now that my blog is up and running again, you can expect more posts before the year is over:).

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about anything!
