Hey friends! Hope y’all are having a great weekend! That extra hours of sleep was nice (if you actually got it 😂). Here are some of the fun things that have been going down in our class the last couple weeks:
We took advantage of our party week and did some fun Halloween-y lessons. On “Monster day”, we made footprint montsters, read “The Monstore”, and got creative while making some shape monsters. We also did some descriptive writing about our monsters. It was a fun day!
Mummy day was up next! We read “Where is my Mummy” and talked about what our “mummies” do for us when we are scared, made a fun mummy craft, and practiced teamwork by working in partners to make each other into a mummy.
That Thursday was party day! Thank you SO much to all of the parents who worked so hard to make our party AWESOME! We were the talk of the building with our fun party🎃 and the kids had a blast! Such a fun way to wrap up a fun week.
In ELA, we’ve learned about Kk, Ll, Mm, and Nn. I am so proud of their circle maps! The students are now drawing their own pictures and labeling them by themselves. We are working on learning the parts of a book, characters, setting, and the job of an author and an illustrator. Just FYI, our class will be creating a real book this year! We will purchase the book kit and begin working on it soon. It is very exciting! This class loves writing and that makes my teacher heart 😊. We are continuing to work on correct letter formation and we are sounding our our words in our journals. It’s so awesome to watch these kiddos “stretch their brains”.
In math, we’ve worked on calendar skills, counting to 80, writing numbers through 6, and counting quantities to 5. EVERY kid in our class could count to 50 during our last counting assessment on Thursday. SO proud! Soon, we will begin working on simple addition.
We also started our Thankful Tree on the first day of November. Everyday, the kiddos share something they are thankful for and get to put it on our tree. I love seeing the things their hearts are thankful for❤️.
This week and next we will be learning about the first Thanksgiving. Our class will put on a play on Thursday, November 17 at 11:30. Our classroom feast will follow. You won’t want to miss it! After the play and feast, you are welcome to either check your child out or leave them for the rest of the day.
This class is so much fun! I am blessed by your kiddos! As always, please let me know if you need anything or if you have any questions. ❤️
